Jelena Stefanovic, DAOM, LAc.
Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine
Jelena is one of the very few Western second-generation acupuncturists with over two decades of exposure to Chinese Medicine. Coming from a family of health care practitioners who practice both Eastern and Western medicine, she appreciates different ways of knowing and looking at the human body. Thanks to her mother Ljiljana, who is one of the pioneers in the field of Chinese medicine in Serbia. Jelena considers this medicine a way of life, not just a practice or a technique.
In 2003, Jelena received her Masters of Oriental Medicine degree, which includes acupuncture and herbal medicine studies, from the Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, Minnesota. After completing her Master's degree, Jelena founded the first acupuncture clinic specializing in fertility care in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After practicing for three years, she was awarded a doctoral fellowship and went on to pursue a clinical doctorate degree with an emphasis on women's health and geriatric medicine at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland, Oregon.
Apart from her advanced doctoral studies, Jelena also trained with Randine Lewis, PhD, L.Ac., the author of The Infertility Cure and Jane Lyttleton, L.Ac., the author of Treatment of Infertility with Chinese Medicine. Dr Lewis and Lyttleton are considered authorities in treatment of fertility issues with Traditional Chinese Medicine.
