Hi Jelena
I am trying to fall pregnant naturally with the help of my acupuncturist etc. i have read that aspirin affects ovulation. I have been recommended to take aspirin while trying to fall preganant due to having antiphospholipids, blood clotting factors etc. Can i assume that baby aspirin 81 mg will have the same affect as full strength aspirin on ovulation? Also should i then only take it after ovulation each cycle?
thanks and regards
Kathy
Hello Daisy,
Are you taking bulk Chinese herbs that you cook at home? That form of herbs will be more potent in those cases. How severe is your blockage? In China, herbal enemas with strong blood moving herbs are used in cases of blocked fallopian tubes. I would expect that within 6-8 months of treatment you should be seeing results however, if the blockage is severe, there is always a possiblity that it may not respond to treatment with Chinese medicine.
Good luck and hope that this helps,
Jelena
Hi Kathy,
Good question. The study that I cited in my article “Can Ibuprofen Interfere with Ovulation?” showed that aspirin can interfere with ovulation. However, reproductive endocrinologists frequently prescribe aspirin for women who have a history of miscarriage due to clotting disorders. I have also seen a study that showed that women who take aspirin are more likely to get pregnant. So, this is one of those not so black and white answers. I would assume that low dosage is probably not problematic. If you are taking aspirin, you can test whether it is interfering with your ovulation by taking your BBT (basal body temperature) or using ovulation prediction kits. If you notice that you are ovulating late, and that your lutheal phase is shorter than 12 days, that may point to the possible problem.
Hope that this helps,
Jelena
